CONCERTS AT THE JEWISH MUSEUM OF VENICE
Jewish Classical Music

Green light to a series of concerts of Jewish classical music performed by the flute player Anna Fortis and the pianist Cristina Ciravolo. The idea of the concerts arises with the purpose to spread to public some less-known aspects of Jewish music. The works of Jewish artists or artists who dedicated their compositions to Judaism will be proposed: pieces which drew inspiration from liturgy, cultured music or revision of popular tunes. The concerts will take place every week on Tuesdays at 5,30pm in the didactic department of the Jewish museum Calle del Forno Cannaregio 1107, starting from November 27th, entrance free. In new didactic area of the museum Giovanni Levi presents the book edit by Firenze University Press.
The book is a study about jewish community in the 15th century and its relationships with the mainland.

PURIM IN VENICE
The Jewish Museum has celebrated Purim with didactic laboratories for children

On tuesdays 14 March the children of the elementary school Manzoni of Venice have discovered Purim, one of the most joyful Jewish festivities, into the didactic area of the Jewish Museum. Naftali operators, the didactic section of Codess Cultura, have told them the history of Queen Ester with the aid of the "Propp cards", visualizing the protagonists and the structure of the history. Moreover, after to have seen an original Meghillà Ester (the parchment coil that tells the history of Ester), the children has realized their small meghillà interpreting the core points of the story.

Restoration of the former building “ex falegnameria”
Inauguration of the renewed space in the Old Ghetto

Sunday 12 March at 11 a.m., the Jewish Community of Venice and Codess Cultura, will introduce to the public the work of recovery of the former “ex-falegnameria” in the Old Ghetto, calle del Forno, Cannaregio 1107.
The vice president of the Jewish Community, Riccardo Calimani and the president of Codess Cultura, Adriano Rizzi will introduce the recovery works, with a participation of Carlo Castiglioni, the architect who has followed the restoration.
The former “ex-falegnameria”, transformed in a versatile and multicoloured structure, will host several cultural activities.
