"Salomé: Woman of Valor"
Performance by Adeena Karasick

"Salomé: Woman of Valor" revisions the legend transposing the image of Salomé from villainess to heroine. Not repeatedly victimized, scapegoated and silenced, but as the embodiment of female desire, Salomé becomes a freedom fighter and luxurious manifestation of difference, dissonance and re-empowerment.

Adeena Karasick is a New York based, Canadian prize-winning poet, cultural theorist, media artist and the author of seven books of poetry and poetics. She teaches Literature and Critical Theory for the Humanities and Media Studies Dept. at Pratt University. Her archive has just been established at Special Collections, Simon Fraser University.
